Wagner students discover hidden camera; JROTC instructor accused

kens5.com

A Wagner High School Junior ROTC instructor has been accused of taking inappropriate photos of students.

The Junior ROTC instructor was placed on administrative leave after a recording device was found in a supply room where students sometimes change their clothing.

They say one of the female students was actually recorded doing just that. Her family has been notified, and if they choose to press criminal charges, it's possible the instructor could face legal punishment.

Officials at Judson ISD say the recording device was discovered by other students at Wagner High School. Those students turned it over to the proper authorities.

"It's a small recording device, and they actually thought that it was a flash drive. It looks very similar to that. When they discovered there were some questionable images, some video images, they immediately turned it over to their ROTC instructor, who then turned it over to the principal at Wagner," says Judson ISD spokesperson Aubrey Chancellor.

Candidate Catches Hidden Camera

valleycentral.com

Jessica Tetreau is outraged.

She’s a candidate for Brownsville City Commissioner District Two.

She’s also a mother, afraid a surveillance camera is spying on her and her children.

Tetreau discovered the camera Friday.

It’s hidden inside the broken window of a neighbor’s home, pointing at the house of her estranged husband.

Tetreau is separated from her husband, but says she still spends a lot of time at his home.

“This is a very well known area where children play,” said Tetreau.

Tetreau said the discovery of the camera confirmed her fear that she and her children were being watched.

"I had already seen a man taking pictures of my children,” said Tetreau.

Whether the camera is an attempt to sabotage Tetreau, she said she doesn't know.

"It would be very disgusting and disturbing if that's why it was set up,” said Tetreau.

Watch Where You Put That Thing: Wiretapped Teddy Brings $120K Fine

discovermagazine.com
Tap that teddy bear and pay the price: $120,000. Or at least, that’s what Dianna Divingnzzo and her father, Sam Divingnzzo, are due to pay out after being slapped with federal wiretapping charges.

The fines arose from a custody case over Divingnzzo’s daughter with ex-husband William “Duke” Lewton. After Lewton was awarded unsupervised visitation, Divingnzzo put a recorder inside her daughter’s teddy bear (cutely, if not creatively, named “Little Bear”) to document suspected physical and verbal abuse by Lewton. The recorder taped continuously, while Divingnzzo occasionally copied the files and sent them to her father for transcription.

The Little Bear plan got hairy when Divingnzzo tried to use the material to win back sole custody..

Video Baby Monitors Broadcast Images From Inside Homes

justnews.com
Video baby monitors can help parents keep watch over their children, but they also can allow strangers to see what's happening inside of homes.

When Coral Springs parent Allison Lindsey turned on her new video baby monitor, she had to do a double take. Instead of seeing her baby girl, Lindsey saw a boy."I saw my neighbor's boy in his crib," Lindsey said. The wireless camera system pointed at Lindsey's baby's crib was picking up images of 16-month-old Tyler next door. Both systems are on the same frequency. Lindsey said she had no clue when she set up the system that the signal would go beyond the walls of her home. She told Tyler's mom, Stacy Kass, who expressed shock."They don't come with any warnings. It never even crossed my mind," Kass said. "How many times I must have walked in there not dressed appropriately, never thinking for a second that anyone could see what was going on in our home. It's beyond creepy."

Erin Andrews files lawsuit against stalker, hotels

cnn.com

Sports reporter Erin Andrews has filed a lawsuit alleging the hotels where a peephole stalker secretly videotaped her were negligent, according to a statement from the law firm representing her.

The lawsuit also accuses Michael David Barrett, who has pleaded guilty to stalking the ESPN reporter, of invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The suit, filed Thursday, alleges that Barrett received information from hotels when he called them to see if Andrews had made reservations to stay there.

"Not only did the hotels confirm that Ms. Andrews was intending to register as a guest, but they also released, without Ms. Andrews' consent, her room number. The hotels then provided Michael David Barrett a hotel room immediately adjacent to hers," the statement from law firm Greene, Broilett & Wheeler said.

Hotels named as defendants in the civil suit include Marriott International Inc. and Radisson Hotels International Inc. Representatives from those companies did not immediately return requests for comment.
